ECOLOGY COFFEE
VIDEO
DIRECTING/PRODUCING/VIDEOGRAPHY/EDITING
Ecology Coffee is one of the triangle’s many great coffee establishments, but they are not everyone’s normal understanding of a typical coffee shop. They serve their craft coffee out of a 1960’s airstream at the Durham Farmers Market. Owner, Mike White’s, story behind Ecology Coffee is quite unique, in that, his genuine interest in craft coffee and the coffee movement led him to open his own establishment in hopes to help educate the general public about what Mike would refer to as, a “...wonderful, fruity, flavorful, and stimulating, plant based product, that we call coffee.”
PASSION LEADS TO ACTION
The more you live life you will realize that passion leads to action. That’s exactly what it was in Mike’s case. His passion for coffee led him to make the necessary decisions to achieve a goal. A goal to educate and share delicious, craft coffee to his community. Throughout the actual shooting phase of the project, I wanted to capture moments that showed Mike’s passion for his craft. Getting up early in the morning on his off day, going and hitching the airstream, driving to the location, leveling the airstream, and all the components of running a small coffee shop except for the fact that you’re in a 1960’s airstream on the side of the road.
I was in love with the logo that designer Steve Smith did. So, I took some design elements, took some frames from the project, and put together a piece that was intended to be utilized for instagrams carousel feature.
