MOTION DESIGN
PRE-PRODUCTION/DESIGN/ANIMATION
The Apptio Products Overview video was designed as an opening animation for one of Apptio CEO’s keynote sessions. Our goal with this project was to communicate how Apptio’s products brought solutions & value to the current state of the IT world. We collaborated with multiple branches across the organization to write out a script, organize product screens, and even record a voice over with one of Apptio’s employees. While developing the design of the project, we wanted to keep the visuals simple & clean to contrast the sometimes complex IT vocabulary. We utilized core Apptio brand themes like dots representing data, or icons from our icon library, to further emphasize the brand. I really enjoyed creating this piece, and learned some valuable lessons along the way. Sticking to the process is everything. If you plan to succeed, you will succeed.
Storyboard
IT’S IN THE PROCESS
One consistent theme throughout the production process would be intention. Whether it be efficiently coordinating with multiple teams, or the way the storyboard was built, each decision had an intent. The storyboard provided intentional frames defining key points in the script, with minimal detail on on the action. This allowed me to see the end result and work my way backwards to discover how the animation gets there.
