PRE-PRODUCTION/DESIGN/ANIMATION

Make An Impact was a video series intended to support a HR recruiting campaign that showcased Apptio employees’ career journeys. What was initially named Journey To Apptio, the video series was intended to tell the story arc of an employee’s hiring, onboarding, and work experience at Apptio. Having been developed in the middle of the pandemic, this project brought it’s own set of challenges. With zoom recordings being the primary method of capturing footage, I had to make sure the visual identity was strong enough to support the rather simple nature of the content.

FUNCTIONAL DESIGN

My goal was to design & animate a visual identity that comprised of elements that could be multifunctional but still communicate a cohesive message. A lot of the design elements were derived from the goal of capturing an employees journey to Apptio and how they make an impact in their day-to-day. I was inspired by the universal interpretation of a map with the various symbols, dotted lines, and the classic X marks the spot. The two-toned circle, which eventually translated into the type itself, was inspired by the focus ring in a film camera viewfinder, representing the various perspectives brought by the employees.
